"Helpful Guy," AKA Jonathon Alderman, was one of the earliest citizens of The Free Republic, when it was founded in 2035. He left behind a humble life as an electrical engineer in Nova Scotia, Canada. Looking for a change of scenery, and something a bit less demanding, he sold everything and came to the islands to work as a public garage attendant.

"Government Garry," AKA Donald Frederic Smith, came to The Republic with a background steeped in civil service and politics. He hails from a small city in the United States, where he worked as an official in a permit office, before moving to the treasurer's department for a decade. Recently, he had a failed bid for city council which lead him to make a change and leave his old life behind for new opportunities.
