Aircraft Rules

The rules of flight in The Free Republic have been placed to keep you flying high! Following the regulations for flying aircraft across Altis and Tanoa will prevent unwanted injuries and/or damage to your plane or helicopter. Let's all safely take to the skies for countless adventures.

No vehicular assault!

Vehicles are never to be used as a weapon. Any intentional use of any wheeled vehicle or aircraft to injure another player or damage property is strictly forbidden.

Helicopter Take Offs and Landings:

When taking off and landing in a helicopter all pilots must move up or down, slowly in a mostly vertical direction. When you are approaching helicopter cruise altitude (see below) you may begin lateral travel. Failure to do so may easily result in an aircraft collision, causing damage to players or other vehicles. If a police officer determines that a take of or landing was reckless you will be fined, as appropriate. Announce all takeoffs and landings via the red text channel labeled "Air Traffic."

Helicopter Cruise Altitude:

When traveling by helicopter, a pilot must maintain an altitude of between 100m and 150m. This height is to be maintained when flying between destinations and is relative to the ground. Altitude is to be adjusted in relation to the terrain and is not static, so care must be taken while in the air. Failure to comply with this rule may lead to serious air collisions causing damage to players and vehicles. If a pilot is found to have been travelling higher or lower than this zone and an accident involving another aircraft occurs, the responsible player(s) will be ticketed by the police.

Plane Take Offs and Landings:

When taking off in a plane, take care to ensure the runway is clear before accelerating. After takeoff begin immediately climbing to plane cruise altitude (see below). When landing, a pilot may begin to make an approach under the cruise altitude as long as you are heading in a steady direction towards the airstrip. Failure to do so may easily result in an aircraft collision, causing damage to players or other vehicles. If a police officer determines that a take of or landing was reckless you will be fined, as appropriate. Announce all takeoffs and landings via the red text channel labeled "Air Traffic."

Plane Cruise Altitude:

When traveling by plane, a pilot must maintain an altitude of between 200m and 250m.
